Understanding the Exam Boards: CIE, AQA, and Edexcel
CIE (Cambridge International) IGCSE is followed by students who wish to follow a British style curriculum, but in international schools around the world. AQA, and Edexcel GCSE Geography are primarily for those studying Geography in UK schools. All three follow very similar syllabuses and share the same basic core focus: balancing physical and human geography, understanding environmental-human relationships, and building fieldwork and data analysis skills. However, they differ significantly in their specific topics, depth of content, and exam structure.
Core Similarities Across All Syllabuses

Dual Focus: All three boards mandate the study of both physical systems, such as water cycles and geomorphology) and human systems, such as population, urbanisation, and economic development.

Skill Acquisition: Fieldwork investigation, statistical analysis, and map/cartographic skills are core requirements across all boards.
